7/3/2023 0 Comments Cs lewis book four loves![]() ![]() ![]() In the case of all other types of love, there is some attraction-some reason the person cares for another. In that case, people love without any personal attraction. Charity, according to Lewis, is the highest form of love. He goes into depth on each subject, but his true message seems to be that the four are almost always intertwined and that they are at their most intense and satisfying level when they are connected to a love for God. Lewis talks about loves in terms of affection, friendship, Eros, and charity. ![]() In the book "The Four Loves," Lewis will take the reader on a quest to discover and explore the various types of love felt, given, and received by humans. However, most people still use the word love in that context. Lewis, the author of The Four Loves, says some people are glad the English language uses both the words "love" and "like." He says his own generation was told not to say "I love strawberries," but to use the work "like" in that instance. ![]()

Lost elsewhere in thought, perhaps he didn’t hear ever-so-soft footfalls among the trees. He was quiet and still, for he was not truly looking for anything out there. He never looked back and only stared out over the water, as if he already knew every sound that he heard.Ī pale glimmer like an old worn road of light ran from the shore beyond his outstretched legs and tall boots to the horizon, where the sun had sunk beyond sight and the ocean. Only a few noises reached him from the little seaside town a short walk inland. His hair might have once been even closer to white, and it now showed darker streaks, making it more white-gray than white-blond. ![]() Light, salt-laden winds blew in over the evening ocean, where an aging man with white-blond hair sat leaning against the bare base of a tree. ![]() 7/2/2023 0 Comments Period 8 by chris crutcher![]() His parents are off-again and on-again because his dad can’t keep it in his pants and his mom keeps caving because she loves him. Just way too many loose threads and no real conclusion. ![]() Nor does he ever provide concluding details which is what brings it down a point for me. It’s more of a peek into high school life and students’ thoughts as Crutcher sets up the background for the suspense of the story, and he does a good job of stretching it out, keeping us in suspense. It should be a requirement in every school, except it wouldn’t work, but the concept is…wow. I love the idea of Period 8 and a teacher like Logs. The mariner tells the tale of how he was on a boat that got lost in fog and ice until the appearance of an albatross (a sea bird kind of like a seagull). The guest becomes increasingly uncomfortable but is unable to stop listening. The poem begins with the title character, the ancient mariner (an old sailor), cornering a wedding guest to tell him a story (like old sailors do). At least I have enough of an instinct for self-preservation not to let anyone else hear it. “To me it sounds like you forgot my name.” I step into his office and shut the door behind me, because I seem to be picking a fight with the great Nate Kattenberger, which is colossally stupid. “The eager intern called you Miss Rowley.
